What was once only possible with scooters is now available in cars, and particularly in motorcycles. According to Colorado Representative Chuck Pratt with Zero Motorcycles, you won’t hear that obnoxious buzzing and rumbling you often hear coming out of the engine of a scooter.
“In Colorado right now, we actually have a really exciting tax credit as well that takes the $9,999 list price down to just $4,100 after the $4,800 state tax credit from Colorado and a $1,000 federal tax credit,” said Pratt. “It’s cheaper than the comparable gas bike, and a lot more environmentally friendly.”

Sonoma, CA — Infineon Raceway’s road course next May (2010) will host the United States’ first-ever “zero carbon” motorcycle race.
It’s called the TTXGP (for Time Trial Extreme Grand Prix), and will be a replica of the world’s first zero-emissions motorcycle race held on the famed Isle of Man course which took place in June 2009, with the winner averaging more than 87 mph over the open-road course.
The Infineon event will coincide with the raceway’s annual AMA Motorcycle Sonoma Showdown weekend, which will include championship points events in American Superbike and Daytona SportBike classes, along with SuperSport and SuperMoto categories.

Here’s a paragraph from the review of the Brammo Enertia by gas 2.0.
The bike has a cute pushbutton starter where you might expect a gas cap, and it makes a noise through a tiny speaker to let you know it’s starting up. They explained to me that Brammo may even make custom sounds available, to make firing up the silent beast a little more fun. Silence is definitely not golden when you’re on a vehicle nobody sees, so it won’t be long before the motorcycle version of “ringtones for cars” becomes available.

The three myths of the electric motorcycle are:
1. They can’t go fast enough
2. They aren’t convenient
3. They are expensive
The Daily Green blog attempts to dispell these myths in their article, Dispelling Four Myths About Electric Motorcycles. (Yes, the title says they are dispelling four myths, but that’s just a test.)
To put it briefly:
Many electric motorcycles on the market today have a top speed of 60 mph or more. The Electra Cruiser can top 80 mph.
You can get electricity anywhere you can get gas. (This answer avoids the real question. You can gas and go, but to date you have to wait a couple of hours or more before your battery is recharged. It’s not the availability of “fuel” but the time factor that concerns many riders.
Do-it-yourself conversions are not that expensive.

Thanks to the successful debut of the TTXGP zero-emissions motorcycle race at the Isle of Man earlier this year, the organizers behind the racing series have decided to go all out in 2010. They are including a Supermoto class, as well as the Pro1 and Pro2 classes already announced.
The new Supermoto class will be run in partnership with the Peveril Motorcycle Club. Peveril, founded in 1923, ran the first organized Supermoto event at the Isle of Man in 2005. The exact details will be finalized in early October.
