Cambridge Introduced To Ultramotor A2B Electric Bike

cambridge-a2b-bike

Cambridge, England — The Ultramotor A2B electric bicycle is a comfortable ride, with a large saddle, wide tyres, shock absorbing front and rear suspension, and Avid BB5 disc brakes. One drawback is the bike weighs 31 kg, and you have to be pedaling before you can start the motor.

The A2B by Ultramotor costs £2,000 price tag. It has the classic shape of a Moulton bicycle with the ability to ride without even having to pedal, with very little noise and no petrol fumes.

The bikes are built in China, distributed by an American company and sold in Britain through The Electric Transport Shops in Oxford, Cambridge and Camden Town.

The motor on the rear hub is powered by a 36v lithium-ion battery, operated by a twist-and-go throttle control on the right handlebar. A conventional seven-speed derailleur gear shift is operated by a twist grip on the left hand. The battery lasts about 20 miles. Rechargeable, it requires a three- to four-hour charge from any domestic electricity supply.

THere’s no law that says riders have to wear a helmet (although it’s a good idea). European laws say riders mst be over 14 years of age, British laws restrict their speed to 15mph. (The A2B can get up to 20mph at the press of the Boost button.)

Super Sized Sucess

Lots of people are overweight. It’s no big deal. (Yes, I’ll say it again, being 5 or 10 pounds overweight is no big deal!) However, when people become from fifty to a hundred pounds over weight, then there’s a problem. Who knows what causes such obesity? The individual may have some kind of medical condition, or some kind of mental condition over which they have no control, which causes them to gain so much weight and to be unable to lose it.

But they still need to be able to exercise and to be able to feel the freedom of physical movement. According to Jean Demizot, of Super Sized Cycles: “When you’re obese, and your knees and back hurt, it’s hard to do some of the simplest exercises. Non weight-bearing exercises like cycling are often the best answer for large people, as weight is an impediment to easily moving. Cycling develops muscle strength and is an aerobic exercise.”

There’s a new line of pedal-assist bikes for such individuals…those who weigh over the 250 pounds that the majority of bicycles are designed for. A bike or electric bike from Super Sized Cycles can hold 550 pounds.

Super Sized Cycles was founded in 2006 by Joan Demizot, who wanted to create a line of bikes especially designed for those who weighed more than traditionally designed bikes were designed to accommodate.

Now, Super Sized Cycles has introduced a line of electric bikes for the obese.

They have five of these bikes in the product line:

IZIP Supersized Tri-Cruiser Electric Bike: This is their tricycle. “This sturdy, comfortable vehicle has is an exclusive design which incorporates stability, comfort, and capacity in a classic shape. You control the power with a simple on/off switch and a twist throttle.”

iZize Mt Trailz AL Electric Bike: a step-though frame,14 speeds, electric motor, and carries 425 pounds.

IZIP Via Lento Electric Bike: a step-through frame and 7 speeds, available in Powder Blue. (Cross bar version is available.). It has the patented Currie Electro-Drive System, a Shimano Acera Rear Derailleur, SRAM Grip Shift and a 7 speed Drivetrain.

IZIP Supersized Trailz AL Electric Bike: Convenience and ease with a step-though frame, 7 speeds, and electric motor assist.

IZIP Sereno Electric Bike: The least expensive of the line. “It’s a moped! It’s a scooter! It’s a bike! It’s the iZip Sereno!”
