Uno electric motorcycle

When Canadian student Ben Gulak returned from a family holiday from China, it was the pollution chocked air and the crowded streets packed with spluttering motorcycles that got Ben’s inventive mind into overdrive…

By designing a electric motorcycle that would run on battery power and placing the two wheels side by side instead of north to south, he would avoid not only pollution but the size of the Uno electric motorcycle would be compact enough to navigate through the crowded streets and be light enough to be carried up stairs. By using a computer and a gyroscope to balance, the bike maneuvers with a shift of the driver’s body – forwards, back or sideways.

Ben named it the ‘Uno’ electric motorcycle and with his passion for engineering and electric motorcycles he has successfully deisigned a electric motorcycle that has lead to him being named at 19 years of age one of the top 10 inventors of the year by Popular Science and has appeared on “The Tonight Show”.

OK, where do I sign up for one? Sounds fun, enviro friendly, and looks really sweet in a Batman-has-gone-red sort of way.

Can’t wait to try one and answer all my silly questions…

How does it handle? Does it seem natural to someone used to driving a motorcycle all the time, or is it something strange and new? Is it slow like a scooter, or is it as fast off the line as it looks? Strictly single-rider, or does it work with a pillion as well?

Impressive, thanks for inspiring all of us thinking about going electric. Question how far does the electric motorcycle go on one charge? and what is the maximum speed on flat and on a 25% climb? what is charging time for a full charge?

Howdy! I know this is kinda off topic nevertheless I’d figured I’d ask. Would you be interested in exchanging links or maybe guest authoring a blog article or vice-versa? My website covers a lot of the same subjects as yours and I think we could greatly benefit from each other. If you’re interested feel free to send me an e-mail. I look forward to hearing from you! Terrific blog by the way!

  1. [...] Today, 10:31 PM If you like electric motorcycles the latest version of the Uno will debut this weekend on the mall – during the national science festival. Across from Natural History Museum, on Constitution at Mellon Hall. I will also have mondo spider there – giant walking electric spider – google it. Not sure if we can get a demo of the bike going from 2 to 1 wheels b/c of the surface – but still cool. Electric Bikes – Electric Bike News – Reviews – Trends – Information [...]
