GoCycle Electric Bike Launched

The GoCycle electric bike has just been officially launched by Karbon Kinetics of London. It is the first bicycle in history with a frameset and wheels that are injection metal molded in magnesium.

It also has a Lockshock rear suspension (featuring glass-fibre reinforced plastic) with integrated locking port, and a fully enclosed chain drive. Other unusual design features include a front monoblade fork and an inframe battery.

With this technology, the bike only weighs 16.3kg. It disassembles to a size of 65 x 54 x 26 cm.

Richard Thorpe founded Karbon Kinetics in 2002. The GoCycle electric bike is their first product to hit the market.

The electric bikes are due to go on sale in spring 2009. You can preorder on the GoCycle electric bike website priced at £875 (if ordered before the end of January 2009), full RRP £1158.
