The Giant Twist Freedom DX costs about $2000.
The bike manufacturer, Giant, has brought out an electric bike called the Twist Freedom DX which is pretty sweet. It looks pretty much like a regular bike, and works like one too. However, it has a torque sensor that monitors your pedaling, and when necessary, adds in a little assist from a 250-watt DC motor located in the front wheel. Two 26-volt lithium-ion batteries (which have a range of up to 75 miles/120 kilometers) provide the power.
The Twist electric bike has a controller on the handlebar with three settings, much like a gear shift, controlling how much “assist” the motor will give to you (“economy,” “normal,” and “sport”).
The nice thing about the Twist electric bike is that it doesn’t let you get lazy. If you don’t pedal, there’s no power. On the other hand, if you do pedal, then you get all the power you need to go up that steep hill, for example (based on the control setting you choose).
Giant has manufactured the aluminum-framed Twist to exacting specifications. You’ll barely notice the difference when the motor kicks in – no sudden jolts. Everything happens smoothly. Too bad the frame isn’t carbon fibre, though – the aluminum frame weighs 63 pounds!
What’s really nicer about the Twist is the location of the batteries – they’re relatively unobtrusive, nestled in the saddlebag that rests over the rear wheel. They have a 70-mile range over “flat and somewhat rolling terrain” – while in Economy mode. One thing you don’t want to do with the Twist is take heavy loads up steep hills – well, you wouldn’t even want to do that with a regular bike!
The Twist has ergon grips, saddle and suspension seatpost. Shimano Nexus internal 7-speed gearing, an easy one-bolt stem and handlebar adjustments.

I cant believe the price on the complete e-bikes. I paid around $360 for my ampedbikes conversion kit, it pulls me up the biggest hills, 21 mph 20 mile range.
I searched high and low and then read the e-bike reviews on ampedbikes and very happy that I did.
So the conversion kit works for you?
What interested me about your comment is the 21 mph.
I am interested in something that will bring my avg speed up from 18.5 to 20+ in summer and from 15.5 to 18+ in winter (20 mi each way).
So is it the increase in speed on the uphills that gives you such a high avg speed? Or does it also assist significantly on almost flat roads?
WHY DON’T THEY TRY MY BUSETTII BIKE WITH 2 LITHIUM BATTERY’S FOR LESS COST?
TRY OVER 100 MILES UNASSISTED AND UP TO 160 MILES IN ASSISTED MODE.
ANYONE ONE CARE TO CHALLENGE ME ON THE STATS? IF ANYONE OUT THERE IS CONSIDERING A BATTERY POWERED BIKE FOR LESS THAN 2000K…CHECK OUT http://WWW.BUSETTII .COM
IF THERE IS ANOTHER POLICE DEPARTMENT EVEN CONSIDERING BATTERY ASSISTED BIKES, VISIT THE WEBSITE, OR CALL ME @ 336-529-6603 AND I WILL BRING THEM TO YOU AND LEAVE YOU A COUPLE TO TRY AGAINST ANY OTHER BIKE UNDER 5000 DOLLARS
